Technology
Advisory Committee
Minutes, 3 December 2003
- The meeting opened with a discussion of the campus wide email migration
to be started on the 19th of December. This will require everyone to
reset their password. Novell, Unix and Windows passwords should be consolidated
so there is but one password for a user in all of these systems. There
will
be a default mail space of 25 mb although this is expandable. Users with
an inappropriate amount of email on the imap server will be encouraged
to archive locally. Departmental secretaries should be briefed and able to
field
basic questions. Through aliasing the change should be transparent to
the user.
- Michael agreed to do a hardcopy information sheet and Terry agreed to put
information about the migration on the RCOE web page.
- A Web Encryption Protocol (WEP)
- There
was a discussion of technology faculty development, needs assessment
and technology dissemination. It was agreed that focus groups should be
used
to get at the reasons WebCT is not widely adopted and used in the
RCOE. The first TAC meeting of the semester will be devoted to the questions
and focus group issues. John agreed to invite someone from the
Hubbard
Center to help with the formation of the focus groups.
