Review of TAC - Appalnet subcommittee

• Bring in a panel of students to discuss issues about Appalnet
• Appalnet  upgrades and fine tuning over Thanksgiving resulted in disruption of at least 1 course
• E-mail quota and sort functions.
• A general concern was raised about archiving e-mail we need to make a decision on what e-mail solution is the best.  Appmail, Pipeline, and or IMAP.
• During student assessment day comprise an activity to see how students are using technology.  Also include this at student orientation.

ˇ        Recommendation: Students should attend faculty meetings to show how students see and use Appalnet.

• Can TAC develop policies, procedures, responsibilities, and support?
• Subcommittee? 
• Policies are available from other colleges (See agenda for links)
• PHP website from College of Business was discussed
• This type of design may help facilitate maintenance
• Issue's related to priorities of departmental chairs, with respect to maintaining web pages, promoting use of technology on-campus and through extension classes.
• Roberto - Raised concerns that dealing with web site policies outside of a larger vision regarding technology might be too piece meal.

        Spring Semester's 1^st meeting.

Will discuss in a larger group whether web policies can move forward without a common vision.  If so, who in the subcommittee will deal with this issue?

Invite department heads to guide our discussion.
