Minutes, 5 September 2000

Members present: George Olson, John T. Spagnolo, Robert Muffoletto , Gary Moorman , Dick Riedl

After considering input from members not present, the following meeting schedule was proposed and agreed on by those present:

(All meeting are scheduled on Tuesdays from 12:30 until 2:00. All but two of the meetings listed below will be in the Greene-Oakes conference room)

Gary Moorman was welcomed as a new member.
A recommendation for a Graduate Student Member was discussed. Heather Wright will be invited to serve on the committee.
Technology Purchase, Notification and Advisement Form Requests were reviewed but discussion was deferred until the next meeting which should have a more representative attendance.
The committee reviewed and discussed the suggested steps and TAC's role in the allocation of technology funds for the college. It was recommended by those present that each member of the committee go back to the department or constituency they represent and appraise the faculty of what has been done by the TAC. It is important that resource needs are collected and organized by department. It was suggested that the renovation of 109 and the Media Lab be offered as examples of a programmatic approach to resource allocation. Faculty should be aware of the programmatic thinking encouraged by the committee for lab upgrades and faculty machines.
The TAC/ARTTA Faculty Development Initiative was introduced, explained and reviewed. A suggestion was made by Roberto M. that a member of the Faculty Development Committee be invited to the next TAC meeting to encourage cooperation and participation in the initiative. John S. agreed to contact Janet Bloodgood to arrange for involvement of the Faculty Development Committee. Tac's role and an implementation plan for the initiative will be an agenda item for the next meeting. Please become familiar with the document linked above.
Augmenting and improving the RCOE's Technology Plan to address accessibility issues related to technology was briefly discussed.
Gary M. recommended that it would serve the committee well to have the TAC webpages shared with all of the RCOE faculty.
A nondebatable motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and approved by action of foot.
